All Louisiana should see this collection. It is like a story of pages in the life of African-Americans from the U.S. and the surrounding area. Doctors, lawyers, ministers, children, Slaves, and more; we were all reflected here. I also enjoyed the song at the end of the tour. We sang as if calling our fathers/mothers from the past and picturing our steps in their footprints. Go and be warmed by the hands and hearts of our community.
It's amazing the greatest ever where you can see your past and have it meet you in your present while looking forward to your future
This is museum is AMAZING! Very informative!!! I suggest the guided tour because you get a better experience.
We had a wonderful time at the first annual Fall Fest of the Finding Our Roots African American History Museum yesterday. After visiting the various vendors (e.g., artists, foods, wellness professionals) at their booths we joined a tour of the museum. Our tour was conducted by a gentleman who is obviously very knowledgeable about the history of Blacks in Louisiana and Terrebonne Parish. Loved the way he took the time to include the children in the tour by making comments directed at them. It was also great that we had a chance to spend time with the museum's founder, Ms. Margie Bailey Scoby. Great day! We will be back soon with other friends and family.
I really enjoyed myself. After learning the African American history of the place I reside I look upon who I am more now than I ever did.
